No, snapping turtles shouldn't be held by their tails. Hatchlings can be held safely by their carapace. Small snappers are not heavy enough yet to
really get injured if held by the tail, but they can make sudden attempts to free themselves doing some unexpected moves and making the handler
do even more strange things which might result in injuring the turtle, so I although technically it is safe I wouldn't advice doing that.
Large adult snappers, which can weigh between 30 - 60 pounds, are definitely too heavy for this.
